projection for raster layer .bil

The header file is different from the earlier one. Just checking, but try loading this file into QGIS, right-click on it in the layers list, go Properties -> General and set its CRS to EPSG:4326. Then set the project CRS to EPSG:4326 and enable on-the-fly coordinate transformation. Then load the vector layer and check that its CRS is set to EPSG:4326. If at any stage of doing this everything disappears from the screen, right-click on one of the layers in the list and go "Zoom to layer extent".

Which of the files at WorldClim is this, by the way?

You don't need to download anything by hand. Install everything through OSGeo4W installer. Check the libs section under advanced installation.

Hi

Seams there is a conflict between different ssleay32.dll versions:

In my case they are located at
C:\OSGeo4W\apps\gdal-16\bin
C:\OSGeo4W\bin

both are in the path-environment-variables of qgis (derived via process explorer)

i replaced the gdal-16\bin with the one of \bin. the same has to be done with libeay32.dll. i couldn't find any problems with gdal at the moment. so the new version should also work

One more thing: Where can I get the DPSimplify plugin?

The built in simplification-functionality is not good for my purposes because if I have many regions on a map which adjoin each other the simplification leads to cracks between the polygons/regioins...

1.5 ecw/mrsid install

How to load ECW files.jpg

This might help somebody who cannot load ECW files with Qgis 1.5. After many hours of trying I think I finally found an answer. Have a look at my pathway (in the jpeg attached) and note what files I've used and most importantly where I put them. Now I can open ECW files no problem. I don't know whether it is the right way or not but it works for me.
My "C" drive was nearly full hence I've loaded Qgis into the "E" drive.

[SOLVED] Corrupted Project Files in 1.5.0

I think the reason is that Qgis has been "Not Responding" and I have killed the program while it was trying to save the project file.

The windows message "Not Responding" is a dangerous message - you don't know wether your program is just busy working or gone dead

Hi, I can't execute qgis anymore (running Kanotix/Debian Lenny),

I get the following message:

desputin@kanotux:~$ qgis
/usr/bin/qgis.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/qgis.bin: undefined symbol: _ZN23QgsNetworkAccessManager8instanceEv

Does anybody here know what the problem could be?

I am starting developing qgis plugin using python. I was working on an introductory tutorial where resources.qrc file needs to be created. I can not figure out how to create this file. Any help will be appreciated.

Virtual machine are very useful to create client environments or to test new features/softwares without in need of a physical machine. If you want a better performance on VM you can allocate more memory to your VM if you are going to primarily work on the VM.

After you enable the GDAL Tools Plugin(Through Plugin Manager) you should see the Raster menu. You can locate GDALTools Settings under Raster menu

Table Manager is not a core plugin.To install externall plugins first make sure Plugin installer(Plugins - > Manage Plugins) is enabled. After you enable that you should see Fetch Python Plugins.Click and goto Repositories tab and click Add 3rd Party repositories and connect to all these repositories(Need internet).Now goto Plugins tab and you should be able to see Table Manager.Select the plugin and and click Install plugin. After installing enable the plugin from Plugin -> Manage Plugin and you should be able to see the plugin in your toolbar and menu.

Splitting line vector shape in equal segments

v.split should do the work for you. To work in GRASS you will have to create a GRASS database and import your shapefiles into GRASS database using v.in.ogr command and then you can run v.split. After you do the split you can again export the file as shapefile using v.out.ogr

what is the error? Are you opening up the same file in Ubuntu and Windows simulatneously. For GRASS you will have to import the files to its GRASS database to read data

If you are not able to print it through composer you can use the Quick Print Plugin which will export the layout as PDF file which can be printed out.
