Question on the Legend

Postby Lou on Mon Nov 23, 2009 8:39 pm

I am brand new to QGIS (Within the last few days) so I appologize if these are ridiculously basic questions. My two questions are in creating a map in print composer. First, the easy question. Is there any way to make the scale bar in anything other than meters, feet, or DD? For example, I am showing a scale bar with 20,000 meters, which would look a lot cleaner in KM. My second question involves the legend. I am creating a raster file using the colormap option to create my own categories which contain labels. However, when I apply this, all I get is a single colorbar showing all the possible colors, for which I can label that one bar. How do I create a legend which will show each individual color used along with the label for that color? So, for example, if I say all vales from 0-20 are forrests (colorcoded green), from 21-40 are urban(colorcoded red), and 41-60 are uninhabited(colorcoded yellow), I would like to have a legend with those three colors, each containing the label for which they represent. Right now, I just get a colorbar going from blue to red. Thanks for the help.

if you have 1000 meters and want to print 1 km, first in "map unit bar unit" to 1000 (divide the original value on the segment size map unit by 1000) then in unit label put km

For raster legend, it is still a problem in qgis (see viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5113)
I do it in Gimp by hand
