[SOLVED] Problems with the QGIS 1.5 Tethys

Postby mapasPT on Wed Jul 28, 2010 12:24 pm

Hello

I have a Toshiba AMD Turion X2 with the Windows 7 installed and I'm reporting two problems with the latest QGIS version, the 1.5 Tethys revision 13914.

Until yesterday, I had the Trunk version 1.5 installed on my computer and everything worked fine. So I decided to install the latest version (the Tethys), and after I have installed it, I started to run into me with two problems:

The first problem appears when I open the QGIS Tethys where an error box appears related to GDAL (see image attached).

The second its relates to the "Fetch Python Plugins" that when I open this command, QGIS crashs.

Any suggestions to solve this?

Regards

Hello,

I've solved the first problem by installing the GDAL-PYTHON LIB with the OSGEO4W.

I need help for the second problem.

No, that's not possible via OSGeo4W. Have you tried reinstalling QGIS yet?

Are you sure that you managed to delete all files associated with QGIS? Can you start QGIS from command line to check if for any usable errors?

Hello

I obtain what you can see in the image.

I think the problem arre related with the GDAL PlugIn that are now integrated in the QGIS. By example, when I reinstall the QGIS 1.5, I have to go to LIB to add the GDAL-PYTHON Lib. If I dont do this I obtain the error message that you can see in the first image.

And worst, now, all versions of the QGIS installed by using the OSGEO4W the Fetch Pluging made the QGIS crashes!

Maybe try disabling GdalTools.

Sorry, can't help without an error message related to the crashes. I also asked the developers on IRC and they have no idea either :(

Hello

Any idea to solve this?

Meanwhile, I've tried a clean install of QGIS OSGEO4W. So I opened it (the osgeo4w.exe) and made to uninstall the program. Then I deleted the folder OSGEO4W from the hard disc. It also erased the folder ... \ user \.Qgis and then, I open the RegEdit and under HKEY_CURRENT_USER - SOFTWARE I deleted the reference to the QGIS. After I restarted the computer and reinstalled the QGIS via OSGEO4W.
Curious things of doing this: 1. The problem remains (the crash when I open the Plugin Installer). 2. Even deleted the reference of QGIS in RegEdit, the plugins that were installed in version Trunk remain installed in the Tethys except the CADTools!!

I've tried also this to to solve the problem:
- Because the Plugin Installer connects to the Internet, I thought it could be a problem with the firewall. Thus, I turned off the firewall temporarily and I tried again to open the plugin install and again ... it crashs.
